🎯 Job Purpose
John Cockerill Hydrogen is a subsidiary of the John Cockerill Group, specializing in the development of innovative solutions for the production and distribution of green hydrogen from renewable energy sources. To strengthen our development in the hydrogen mobility sector, the John Cockerill Mobility Solutions team is looking for a Proposal Engineer, who will work closely with the Sales Manager on the preparation of bids for hydrogen projects.
📋 Key Responsibilities
🔹 Managing Technical and Commercial Proposals:
- Lead the preparation of technical and economic proposals, from the receipt of the invitation to tender until the contract award.
- Analyze the technical specifications of the tender and identify key information to define:
- The required equipment (scope of supply, capacity, performance, specific requirements, environmental conditions, general arrangement, etc.).
- The associated services (studies, installation, commissioning, training, etc.).
- Create innovative solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Coordinate with internal experts (electrical, mechanical, thermal, process, instrumentation, quality control, etc.), external suppliers, and project partners.
- Estimate the cost of the solution based on:
- Internal engineering studies.
- Supplier bids.
- Plant Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and General Arrangement drawings.
🔹 Technical Offer Preparation and Management:
- Define the scope of supplies and services included in the proposal.
- Draft the technical specifications of the proposed equipment.
- Verify overall layout plans and P&ID diagrams.
- Define performance guarantees and contractual commitments.
- Establish technical clarifications and deviations from the tender requirements.
- Ensure follow-up and updates of the proposal, integrating feedback from partners, subcontractors, and clients after clarification meetings.
🔹 Risk Management and Client Negotiation:
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities related to the proposal project and propose mitigation strategies.
- Handle technical negotiations with the client, alongside the Sales Manager, to finalize the contractual documents.
- Work with the sales team to promote John Cockerill Group to potential customers and showcase projects to internal and external stakeholders.
🔹 Market and Product Watch:
- Conduct market and technology watch to identify developments that could bring added value to the Group (field feedback, customers, prospects, etc.).
🎓 Education & Experience Required
✅ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical Engineering, or another technical field.
✅ 5 years of experience in a multinational environment.
🛠 Skills & Competencies Required
📌 Technical Expertise & Experience:
- Experience in Capital projects (CAPEX), preferably in the Energy, Oil & Gas, or Chemical industry.
- Knowledge of gas applications, preferably related to hydrogen and/or ammonia production.
- Experience in contract principles and negotiations (a plus).
- Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects (a plus).

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
- Strong business acumen, autonomy, and a results-oriented approach.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to innovate.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools.
- Fluency in English (other languages are a plus).
