In order to support our Industry sector, John Cockerill is looking for a Product Line Manager Cold Rolling Mills (m/f/d) for its development activity in all type of finishing lines for carbon & silicon steel industry by the subsidiary Metals.

Nature and scope of the mission

The Product Line Manager for Cold Rolling Mills at John Cockerill owns & masters the existing product line in terms of references, performances, reliability, cost and standardization with full authority on technological portfolio in his Product Line and drives product development.

The PLM is also at the forefront of coordinating and managing the complete lifecycle of pre-project proposals.

Among this, the PLM supports the preparation of comprehensive technical proposals, ensure associated bids are handled correctly, and ensures the successful negotiation of technical contracts. His expertise is pivotal in securing customer satisfaction while aligning commercial objectives with technical specifics.

In this role, the PLM is also a technical expert with a significant impact on the entire innovation & project execution process, making him a crucial guarantor of technology, innovation, and ultimate customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

The Product Line Manager Cold Rolling Mills carries out the following expected tasks:

 

· Analyze technical specifications in tenders to define equipment and service requirements, considering performance, capacity, power, specific needs, environmental conditions, and location.

· Support correct bill of materials, quantities, general arrangement drawings, and process diagrams to establish cost prices.

· Sizing and calculations of cold rolling mills to optimize sizing and ensure accurate performance specifications.

· Attend and validate design reviews during both proposal and design stages, providing technical expertise and approval.

· Guarantor of the technology in the Product Line, ensuring that engineering and operations adhere to standardization and guidelines for competitive and reliable solutions.

· Provide support in commissioning new lines and promote the use of best available technologies.

· Conduct trainings, knowledge sharing sessions, and workshops to enhance the expertise of team members and internal stakeholders.

· Generate and promote a portfolio of innovation projects to drive continuous improvement and stay ahead of industry advancements.

 

Special Job Tasks

 

· Development of new mill concepts (e.g. John Cockerill combination of 6 Hi/ 20 hi for Si-steel)

· Re-engineering 4 / 6 hi twin stand / reversing mill design (down costing, lightweighting)

· CRM electrical steel (USA) – acting as Technical Project Manager

Profile

The ideal candidate for the PLM Cold Rolling Mills position will possess the following qualities and skills:

· Engineering degree, or long experience with deep knowledge acquired in cold rolling processes

· Ideally 10-15 years experience in mechanical / electrical engineering for CRM or PLTCM in metals industry or proven technical experience in production, process control, commissioning of CRM facilties

· Good knowledges in metallurgy is a must, regarding advanced steels (HSS), electrical steels including rolling technologies for automotive steel grades.

· Familiarity with MS Office and AutoCAD.

· Proficiency in English (additional languages are a plus).

· Demonstrated strong commitment to the role, showing dedication and passion in delivering outstanding results.
