Piping Designer Junior

Location – Andheri East, Mumbai (India)

Job Purpose

Piping Design Engineer / Piping Designer will be responsible for issuance of general arrangements and detailed drawings of products of the Energy Solutions business of John Cockerill group, comprising mainly of HRSG and industrial boilers, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, with the following objectives:

• Respect of the Design Process as defined in the QMS of the Sector
• Technical conformity of drawings to internal standards and contractual requirements
• Supply of a fast and reliable service to the execution teams to respect the contractual delivery schedules of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Application of the Design Process
• Checking of completeness of the inputs received from the Technical Project Manager and basic engineering department to proceed to his/her work
• Provide the engineers with information needed for the project progress
• Prepare & issue the project documentation, mainly Piping layout, equipment layout, pipe isometrics & support fabrication drawings in compliance with internal standards and contractual requirements.
• Selection of support based on Pipe stress analysis report.
• Knowledge of Piping routing and support modelling in SP3D will be an added advantage.
• Issue the project documentation in compliance with administrative standards.
• Issue of BOM (bill of materials) for material purchasing
• Issue and update the standard technical documentation whenever required.
• Keep your competencies up to date with regards to the needs of the Energy Sector
• Be proactive in the continuous improvement and REX (return on experience) processes.
• Be available for temporary and short-term assignments at client site in India & abroad.

Education & Experience

• Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institution/university
• Minimum 1 to 4 years of experience in a project-based engineering company or consultancy with an exposure to Multinational environment
• Experience in Power Plant projects will be an added advantage.

Background, Skills, and Competencies

• 2D CAD knowledge: Smart Sketch, Auto Cad
• 3D CAD knowledge: SP3D, LICAD(Optional)
• Basic knowledge of codes & standards (like ASME B31.1/B31.3, EN13480, MSS SP-58) and good engineering practices
• Knowledge of piping components and materials
• Knowledge of mechanical properties of steel elements (ASTM and EN)
• Knowledge of Lisega catalogue will be an added advantage
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel)
• Fluency in English
• Attention to detail engineering and service orientation are key
