Job Purpose

 

Willing to improve its operational performance, Industry sector created a common organization, named PMO. It mainly aims to improve the project execution, develop synergies between Sector Entities, generate scale of economy and optimize resources.  The PMO is supported by several pillars: Project Management (PM), Claim & Contracting, Project Control, Scheduling, Sales.

 

The scope of the Scheduling manager covers 8 entities; most of them are located in India, China, Poland, Finland, Germany, Belgium and USA.

 

Key Result Areas

 

At sector level, the PMO Scheduling Manager will promote a culture of planning and time management within all entities of the organization. He/She will:

 

  • Develop and promote standardized planning methods and tools.
  • Share best practices.
  • Participate in the administration of planning tools (Microsoft Project Online), BI tools.
  • Develop planning solutions by integrating new technological means in collaboration with the IT Business Partner.
  • Ensure a technological watch and benchmark in its field of expertise.
  • Participate to recruitment of new schedulers.
  • Develop training tools (classroom, webinar, business case, etc.) and increase the scheduling expertise.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

At project level, together with entities and projects teams, the PMO Scheduling Manager coordinates all the strategical and operational activities related to schedule management. He/She will:

 

  • Define with the project team the most suitable planning structure to ensure an effective follow-up of the project.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to gather relevant information for scheduling purposes.
  • List and sequence all activities according to WBS and durations (standard or estimated) ;
  • Analyze project requirements and constraints to create realistic and achievable schedules.

 

  • Implement progress update rituals through the various departments involved in the project.
  • Generates forecasts, backlog reports and advances, and any other useful documentation to track and manage projects.
  • Under the responsibility of the project manager, analyze and challenge the schedules (Supplier, Customer, Internal). Define and feed the corresponding indicators.
  • Participate in the elaboration of the proofs of delays/non-delays in the litigation process with our suppliers/customers;
  • Support the project team during dispute meetings on deadlines with the customer or suppliers.
  • Evaluate current processes and recommends changes to improve planning efficiency.
  • Identify and includes external interfaces (Customers, Suppliers,);
  • Analyze the critical path, highlights delay and suggests options to reduce risks.
  • Verify schedule consistency with delivery dates.
  • Analyze the impact of a change request.
  • Challenge the organization to control and reduce delays.

 

 

Qualification and Experience

 

     

  • Master’s degree in project management, Business Management, or in a related field
  • You have minimum 5 years’ experience in project scheduling in an industrial environment,
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in project scheduling software (ideally MS Projects).
  • Extensive experience in schedule planning and management.
  • Fluent in English (strong written, verbal, and proven presentation), French is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of the scope of projects within similar industrial projects.
  • Advanced ability to evaluate project progress and facilitate interventions.
  • Ability to keep stakeholders informed of project timelines and changes.
  • Certification as a PMI scheduling professional (PMI-SP) or Project Manager Professional (PMP) will be an advantage.
