Job Purpose

Plan and deliver on Value Engineering and Value Analysis of mechanical equipment’s and systems for rolling and strip processing lines that enable to achieve design and material optimization to reduce cost and support growth objectives of the organisation.

Design and Material optimization of mechanical equipments for rolling and strip processing

Meeting the targets around Quality, Delivery and Cost

Innovation mindset to bring in new designs to improve functionality and reduce cost.

Key Responsibilities

Qualified candidate will be groomed in VAVE (R&D) Function

Understand the current design of equipments from functionality, cost and reliability standpoint

Refer running project references to understand functionality, design parameters and specifications

Refer current equipment cost and apply Pareto principle, to work out the focus areas for optimization.

Apply VAVE principles, to identify opportunities for design and cost optimization without impacting functionality and reliability

Work with the suppliers and internal cross functional teams to identify design changes to reduce cost. Develop specifications for bought outs for getting quotes from suppliers

Engineer the revised equipment design and develop 3D models. Perform Engineering calculations and software simulations to ensure functionality and reliability

Document the cost savings and release relevant documents for future proposal and engineering

Work in team with group leaders, Engineers, Designers of VAVE function and with Engineering and Operations team

Follow the ISO guidelines for design and developmentKeep themselves abreast of the new technologies and imbibe the same in product design and development.

Education and Experience

The candidate should be BE/B TECH in Mechanical / Production Engineering from Reputed college.

3 to 5 years of Experience in engineering design of terminal equipments related to rolling and steel processing

Understanding of process for rolling, galvanizing and colour coating lines

Candidate worked in multinational company will be an added advantage.

Background, Skills, and Competencies

Auto CAD 2D, Autodesk Inventor for 3D Modelling. Nastran for mechanical simulation

Should have worked in Product Data Management Tools (like Vault)

Basic Engineering drawings skill and Mechanical design calculations capability

Basic Metallurgy knowledge (steel composition, heat treatment processes)

Ability to bring innovation in design to improve functionality and reduce cost.

Good Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.

Ability to work in an Agile environment in a Collaborative way.
