Job Purpose

The Quality & Expediting Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all outsourced and manufactured equipment, fabricated structures, machined components, assemblies, and bought-out items conform to specified quality requirements and are delivered as per project schedules.

The role requires proactive management of supplier quality, manufacturing progress monitoring, inspection, issue resolution and expediting activities to ensure timely delivery of quality products. The appointee shall act as a key interface between Engineering, Procurement, Projects & Suppliers.

 

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

Supplier Quality Assurance

  • Ensure quality compliance of all outsourced fabricated, machined, assembled, and bought-out items.
  • Review supplier manufacturing capabilities, quality systems, and process controls before order execution.
  • Conduct supplier capability assessments and quality audits.
  • Monitor supplier adherence to approved drawings, specifications, quality plans, and contractual requirements.
  • Drive supplier quality improvement initiatives and corrective action implementation.
  • Review technical specifications, drawings, Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Manufacturing Quality Plans (MQP), and customer requirements.
  • Prepare inspection schedules aligned with project milestones.
  • Conduct stage-wise, final, and pre-dispatch inspections at supplier facilities.
  • Witness critical manufacturing and testing activities as per approved ITPs.
  • Verify compliance with approved standards, tolerances, and specifications.

 

Expediting & Manufacturing Follow-Up

  • Closely monitor manufacturing progress against approved schedules.
  • Conduct regular supplier visits to assess production status.
  • Identify delays, bottlenecks, and risks impacting project delivery.
  • Develop recovery plans with suppliers.
  • Expedite procurement of materials, manufacturing activities, testing, inspection, and dispatch.
  • Ensure on-time completion of manufacturing milestones.

 

Technical Competencies

  • Manufacturing Knowledge with strong expertise in heavy fabrication, precision machining, welding, assembly processes, surface treatment, and industrial painting of heavy engineering equipment and components.

 

Experience:

  • Diploma: Minimum 12 years relevant experience
  • B.Tech.: Minimum 8 years relevant experience
  • Experience in Steel Plant Equipment Manufacturing, Heavy Engineering, Material Handling Equipment, Process Equipment, EPC Projects, or similar industries preferred
