Key Responsibilities

 

  • The technical proposal manager is responsible for Mechanical Engineering aspects of a steel processing line from initial request stage to firm binding commitment with the Customer.
  • The technical proposal manager is responsible for ensuring quality, optimized cost and delivery of the technical documentation which includes major deliverables given below:
  • Line Layout engineering.
  • Line and Motor Calculations
  • Line Basic Data and Technical Specifications
  • Ensuring implementation of learning from reference projects in new proposals and driving cost optimization during processing line engineering.
  • Reviewing and providing technical clearance for major bought outs.
  • Working with technical proposal lead, technology experts and product line managers to guarantee the customer requirements, translates into achievable functional specifications and performance guarantees.
  • Support execution team with required information during project handover and lifecycle.
  • Work with line layout team and thermal team to develop line layout as per Customer RFQ.
  • Working closely with proposal managers to ensure complete technical documentation for a proposal.

 

Education & Experience

 

The ideal candidate for the technical proposal manager (mechanical) position should have the following skills:

5 to 8 years of experience in technical design and engineering of one or more of the below processes in the international steel making of flat products, with a project value of 50 to 500 Crores:

 

    • automotive and construction grade continuous annealing and galvanizing lines
    • cold rolling mills
    • pickling lines, and acid regeneration plants
    • Electrical steel – Annealing pickling and Annealing coating line

 

 

 

Proven experience in establishing and updating technical offers, in other words:

    • Generation of line layout as per Customer RFQ and calculations
    • Generation of line technical specifications, utilities data
    • Process related, Production and Cycle time calculations.
    • Defining Line tension requirements
    • Reviewing technical offers of major bought outs
    • Verification of assembly drawings, P&ID, and process diagrams
    • Drafting performance as per design reviews
    • Defining technical deviations from those set out in the RFQ.

 

  • References in Technical proposal engineering (mechanical) with high-end flat steel makers in Europe, USA, and Asia, like Arcelor Mittal, Baowu, TATA, Nucor, JSW

 

Background, Skills, and Competencies

 

  • Good in communication (English – Oral and Written)

 

  • Ability to defend one’s point of view from technical standpoint.

 

  • Knowledge of IT tools Microsoft 365 (Teams, Tasks, Planner, Project on-line), Autodesk (AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault), Power BI & Excel pivot tables.

 

  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders – both local and international

 

  • Working in an agile environment with high perseverance
