Job Purpose

John Cockerill designs, integrates, modernizes, and maintains equipment in the fields of energy, defense, industry, and the environment. John Cockerill supports its customers throughout the life cycle of their equipment to improve its economic, technical, and environmental performance. Hydrogen-related activities are organized within a subsidiary called "John Cockerill Hydrogen". This entity benefits from: 

• Its current position as world leader in the manufacture of electrolysers, with over 25 years' experience, 
• A complete range of integrated solutions for hydrogen production and refueling stations, 
• Production capacity in Asia and Europe, 
• An integrated test laboratory for key electrolysers components. 

In order to reinforce our Hydrogen Sector, John Cockerill is looking for a Project Manager for its electrolysers development activity.   

The objective is to find a motivated professional to join our Cockerill Jingli Hydrogen structure based in Suzhou, China, in order to contribute to the smooth running and growth of this key subsidiary of our John Cockerill group.  

This is an expatriate assignment lasting 2 to 3 years before returning to Europe - if the employee so wishes- or in our joint venture, which is currently expanding on the American, African and Asian continents. 

Key Result Areas

• Lead a team of engineering,project,scheduling procurement,QC,HSE etc for successful execution of a Green Hydrogen project  with in predefined schedule and cost budget.

• PM will work in tandem with Project directors/managers based in Belgium and acts as a primary interface point between John Cockerill (JCH2) execution team, technology team, local partner, vendors, Engineering subcontractors, and client for seamless flow of information and on time project execution .

• Act as a key stakeholder for developing and maintaining a vibrant and productive working environment while leading a diverse team of talented professionals.

• PM will also be responsible for supporting and mentoring project engineers and other members of PMT team.

Key Responsibilities

• As Project Manager, you will have the following roles and responsibilities: 

  • Define the project framework, including the identification of external and internal partners.     
  • Organize and conduct meetings with customers, partners and subcontractors and define appropriate communication channels.  
  • Maintain commercial relations with the customer, from project acknowledgement to final acceptance of the installation. 
  • Supervise and coordinate project teams, and if necessary, delve into the technical aspects of the project with collaborate.  
  • Manage contractual, administrative, and financial aspects of projects (including amendments and quarterly budget reviews) 
  • Provide customers with documentation on all aspects of the project, ensuring completeness and consistency of information provided. 
  Participate in the definition and implementation of work processes and tools for your department

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or above in chemical, electromechanical, automation or other related majors, 

• 20 to 25 years’ experience in large EPC/heavy engineering industry / industrial OEMs in oil & Gas, energy sectors with an exposure to Multinational environment.
• Relevant experience in gas equipment manufacturing is a strong asset,
• Proficiency in project management knowledge and project management system, 

• Good command of English, which is the working language, 
• Ability to manage goals, understand goals accurately, decompose goals, find suitable paths and scientific methods to solve practical problems, 
• Skills to balance the conflict of resources between multiple projects and their interests.

              Background, Skills, and Competencies

• Identification and management of project risks
• Solution-oriented with a high capacity to collaborate with all types of profiles.
• Compliance with the internal quality management system
• Compliance with norms, internal standards, as well as specific customer requirements
• Autonomous profile, able to take initiative, to work in a team with multiple interfaces related to various areas of expertise.
• Able to handle a variable workload (some very busy periods with multiple projects in parallel)
• Proactivity in the implementation of technical continuous improvement processes, based on feedback.
• Good exposure and understanding of PESO norms.  
• Knowledge of International Standards such as ASME / EN/ DIN /JIS along with alternate materials
• Should have managed the complete process of Engineering Change Management

• Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of French is added advantage.
