Job Purpose


To support its growth, John Cockerill Energy Solutions, headquartered in Belgium, is opening an office in Mumbai and is hiring a Mechanical Designer.
The Mechanical Designer is an employee responsible to issue general arrangement anddetailed drawings of products of the Energy Business line of John Cockerill, mainly HRSG and industrial boilers’ heat exchangers, solar receivers, pressure vessels... He/She assures the delivery on time of products general assembly and detailed manufacturing drawings according to the milestones defined by the execution Project Teams. He/She is particularly
responsible to deliver his/her work in conformity with internal quality standards as defined in the QMS 9quality management system) of the Energy Business of John Cockerill.


The Mechanical Designer is responsible for the delivery of the GA (general arrangements) and detailed manufacturing drawings of the products of the Energy Business of John Cockerill under the hierarchical responsibility of the Design Manager and the functional responsibility of the Technical Project Manager with the following objectives:


• Respect of the Design Process as defined in the QMS of the Business,
• Technical conformity of drawings to internal standards and contractual requirements,
• Supply of a fast and reliable service to the execution teams to respect the document and equipment contractual delivery schedules of projects.


Key Responsibilities


The duties of the Mechanical Designer are amongst others:


• Application of the Design Process,
• Check the completeness of the inputs received from the Technical Project Manager and basic engineering department in order to proceed to his/her work,
• Provide the engineers with information needed for the project progress,
• Issue the execution documentation (mainly GA and detailed drawings) in compliance with internal standards and contractual requirements,
• Issue the execution documentation in compliance with administrative standards,
• Issue BOM’s (bill of quantities) for raw material purchasing,
• Issue and update the standard technical documentation,
• Keep his competencies updated with regards to the needs of the Energy Business,
• Be proactive in the continuous improvement and REX (return on experience) processes.


Education & Experience 


- 3-5 years relevant experience within an engineering context.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / ITI (Draftsman course)

• 2D CAD knowledge (AutoCad, SmartSketch)
• 3D CAD knowledge (SmartPlant, Inventor)
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel)
• Understanding of professional environment and company internal processes
• Basic knowledge of Welding, usual codes / norms , pressure part codes and good practice rules
• Mechanical Assembly and fabrication drawings (welding, Machining, sheet Metal fabrication, non fired pressure vessels …)
• Drafting / Detailing of Pressure Parts ( like tanks , vessels etc) will be added advantage.
• Bill of material preparation, weight calculations, Plate developments
• Knowledge of mechanical properties of steel elements (ASTM and EN), Welding techniques, Piping pressure class
• Reading of technical documentation
