John Cockerill Hydrogen (JCH2) has Global footprints and to supports its International and domestic operations we are looking for a Product Configuration Engineer in Mumbai (India) office.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Product Configuration Engineer to lead configuration management activities for our alkaline electrolyser platforms. This role ensures rigorous control over product configuration through identification, change control, status accounting, baseline generation, verification audits, and active participation in the New Product Introduction (NPI) gate review process. The engineer will also manage the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and ensure timely follow-up of all related actions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identification
- Define and maintain unique identifiers for components, assemblies, and configurations.
- Ensure consistent classification and traceability across product platforms and variants.
- Define, release, and maintain configuration baselines at key project milestones
- Ensure baselines are complete, approved, and stored in accordance with configuration management policies.
- Change Control
- Manage engineering change requests (ECRs) and change orders (ECOs) in accordance with configuration control procedures
- Organize and lead regular Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings to review and approve configuration changes.
- Ensure proper documentation of decisions and actions from CCB sessions.
- Monitor and follow up on action items to ensure timely closure and implementation.
- Ensure all changes are traceable, approved, and accurately reflected in PLM systems.
- Status Accounting
- Maintain accurate records of configuration baselines and their evolution.
- Track the implementation status of changes and provide configuration status reports.
- Support internal and external audits with up-to-date configuration data.
- Verification Activities
- Plan and conduct functional configuration audits to verify that documentation accurately reflects the intended design.
- Execute physical configuration audits to confirm that the built product matches the documented configuration.
- Document audit findings and support resolution of discrepancies.
- Gate Review Participation (NPI)
- Actively participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) gate reviews.
- Ensure configuration readiness and compliance at each gate, including baseline validation and change impact assessments.
- Provide configuration status updates and risk assessments to support decision-making.
- System & Process Support
- Operate within John Cockerill Hydrogen systems (Sharepoint, Teamcenter, InEight) to manage configuration data and workflows.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of configuration management processes and tools.
- Compliance & Standards
- Apply configuration management principles in accordance with ISO 10007 and SAE EIA-649 standards.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
- 10+ years of experience in configuration management or product data management in product-centric industries.
- Strong expertise in PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred), engineering change processes, and baseline management.
- Proven experience in conducting configuration audits, managing CCBs, and supporting NPI gate reviews.
- Deep understanding of configuration management standards: ISO 10007 and SAE EIA-649.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in product-centric industries with robust configuration management such as automotive, rail, aeronautic, defense.
- Familiarity with BOM structures, variant management, and ERP integration.
- Exposure to global manufacturing environments and regulatory compliance.
