Job Purpose
To support its growth, John Cockerill Energy Solutions, headquartered in Belgium, is opening an office in Mumbai. John Cockerill Energy Solution is hiring a Project Manager m/f/x) to reinforce its Execution Center in India.
The Project Manager works together with the Head Offices project teams (based in Belgium or in USA). He/she will be the single point of contact for the Head Office project team for the identified work packages. For reporting, coordination and project management activities related to a particular Project, the Project Manager will report to the Project Manager/Technical Project Manager of the related Project, in Head Office.
He/she is responsible for ensuring that the Design Process is applied as defined in the QMS of the Energy Solutions Business line. Other activities, such as coordination and follow up of procurement, shipment,… will be progressively part of responsibilities.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the quality/compliance of the deliverables, the delivery time of these deliverables (either engineering or products).
Key Responsibilities
- Coordination with internal teams to ensure full compliance of the work packages attributed by Head Office Project Management to the Indian Execution Center:
- compliance with the HO specifications and technical notes.
- compliance with the constraints and specifications from the Project Contract.
- compliance with Project schedule in terms of timing (early completion) and resources consumption.
- compliance with the costs and margins.
- compliance with procedures (ISO 9000, ISO 14000, VCA, etc.).
- Organization of coordination meetings with relevant teams from John Cockerill office, Vendor and Head Office Project Management with follow up of action lists.
- Provide continuous, clear and updated reporting to the Head Office Project team, including progress, expected or actual completion, consumption of resources for work packages to Head Office Project Management through the intense use of Primavera scheduling (P6 or Primavera Cloud).
- For the scope attributed to Indian Execution Center for a particular project, the Project Manager is responsible for:
- Preparation of RFQ (Request for Quotation) packages for the Procurement department based on inputs from Engineering.
- Technical compliance verification and resolution of queries with Suppliers.
- Follow up and expediting of the Suppliers awarded: engineering deliverables of the Suppliers (timing and quality) and manufacturing/delivery progress.
- Key point of contact for mechanical erection and commissioning advisors on site;
- Optimization and follow-up of the financial results of the scope of the project, including but not limited to estimation of “to complete” budget per WBS, update of Cash data; cash flow requirement for the scope handled.
- Technical and Supply Chain risks and opportunities assessments and reporting, including mitigation/corrective action plans;
- Application of internal standards and good practices.
- Continuously challenge, analyze, and monitor BOQ (weight, unit price, total price) for the ongoing project(s) across different phases: proposal, engineering, procurement, design, and supplier feedback.
- Promotion of quality, efficiency and productivity to meet business objectives and goals.
- Adhere to project schedules and expected hours for the projects. Ensure the schedule is up-to-date and critical activities are under control.
In this function, the Project Manager will have a global view on the projects, from basic engineering to 3D modeling to fabrication to the final site construction of the product.
The Project Manager reports to the Energy Solutions India Operation Manager. Daily, his/her ‘internal customer’ will be the Head Offices project Teams.
Education & Experience
- 10 to 14 years with minimum 5-7 years of Applicable Experience (as Project Engineer in EP/EPC projects)
- B.E. Mechanical
Background, Skills and Competencies
- Analysis of contractual requirements in regards with internal standards as well as application of internal technical choices
- Understanding of international codes and norms (mainly ASME, EN and ISO)
- Understanding of basic design of the products of the business line
- Understanding of P&ID’s and product processes
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings
- Knowledge of the PMBOK principle is a strong advantage.
- Understanding of product and organization interfaces
- Fluent knowledge of English is mandatory,
- Leadership & Coaching: you know how to inspire and motivate your team in an assertive way
- Organization & Coordination: you work with different functions and different suppliers, with deadlines to meet
- Communication & Presentation: it’s your daily job to create bonds and to pass on information, and you can even do it internationally
- Decision-making & Problem-solving: you are often confronted with different options, for which some unknowns remain
- Working under pressure: you must make decisions… It is not always easy with high value projects. But you know risk-taking is sometimes necessary to move the project forward and you can handle it!
