Job Purpose

John Cockerill Hydrogen (JCH2) has Global footprints and to supports its International and domestic operations we are looking for a Head Of Department - HOD (Mechanical) to be based in Mumbai (India) office.
The HOD will be responsible for all the design and engineering execution of Mechanical discipline of domestic and international FEED, EP & EPC projects. Needless to mention, the HOD will be a key member of JCH2 team to achieve operational excellence and support the growth objectives of the organization globally.
Key Result Areas
- Manage day to day operations, short and long-term objectives of JCH2 Mechanical department.
- Further develop and strengthen Mechanical department to meet JCH2 business objectives.
- Manage a team of Inhouse Mechanical engineers and CAD designers to deliver the Mechanical engineering deliverables of JCH2 projects.
- Manage Mechanical engineering works subcontracted to third party engineering agencies as and when required.
- Optimization of Equipment Technical project specifications (TPS) to reduce CAPEX.
- Integrate Best HSE Practices in the Mechanical design of Green Hydrogen plants and associated facilities.
Key Responsibilities
The HOD (Mechanical) will be responsible for the following:
- Preparation of Mechanical design basis and incorporating JCH2 and customer HSE requirement
- Design, sizing and engineering of equipment such as, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, filters, pumps, skids etc.
- Preparation of MDS of various Mechanical equipment’s
- Verification and follow-up of engineering, documentation and/or drawings
- Verification of the coherence between P&ID, the system 3D model, and the equipment design. To consider various project specific constraints (layout, accessibility, logistic, process…) to adapt the separation standard system design where needed.
- Review of client specifications
- Preparation of Equipment Technical Project Specifications based on John Cockerill requirements, applicable norms/rules at project location, and client specifications, which are used for the procurement process. Preparation of scope matrix and MR for Mechanical design activities outsourced to engineering subcontractors.
- Evaluation of vendors technical offer technical and preparation of TBE(Technical Bid Evaluation).
- Post award VDR (Vendor documents review)
- Provide support to other disciplines, including support to Engineering manager and project manager for clarifications with client.
- Collaboration with other disciplines (Process, Instrumentation, Structure, CAD, HSE…) for suitable integration of the system in skid mounted preassemblies.
- Providing guidelines and instructions to the drafting team for 3D model and 2D drawings.
- Participate in client, PMC, Engineering sub-contractor, vendors, and other internal and external stake holders meeting.
- Participate in inhouse project review meetings.
Prerequisite
- You have an engineering Bachelors /master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- You have at least 20 to 25 years of experience as HOD Mechanical or Lead Mechanical engineer in reputed EPC, energy or oil & gas sector.
Background, Skills, and Competencies
- Deep knowledge and experience in design and engineering of Static, Rotary equipment’s and Process packages. Design and engineering exposure to green hydrogen industry is an advantage.
- Experience in cladded vessels is an asset.
- Experience in material selection, corrosion resistance and welding are an asset.
- Deep knowledge of ASME VIII div. 1, API and TEMA and more generally ASME, IS, BS, DIN, ISO 9000, ISO 14000, and other national and international codes relevant to above Job description.
- Good knowledge of OISD and Local Indian regulation viz PESO etc.
- Interested in FEED/EP/EPC and development projects.
- Good understanding of project and deliverable workflow, and interfaces with other disciplines and departments (procurement, HSE, etc…)
- Software knowledge: PV Elite, Compress or Auto Pipe Vessel, HTRI, Plant 3D software’s, AutoCAD etc.
- You master the office suite, especially Excel.
- Fluent in English. Knowledge of French is plus.
