Description of the Role

As the technical authority for vehicle physical architecture, you ensure consistency between body, structure, chassis, mobility systems, payload integration, protection solutions, and industrial constraints.

You are responsible for translating system-level requirements into a viable vehicle architecture, managing technical trade-offs, and ensuring the integrity of the platform throughout the development lifecycle.

Combining strong engineering expertise, advanced CAD mastery, and practical industrial experience, you serve as the reference for vehicle integration and structural architecture.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Define and own the overall vehicle physical architecture, including body, structure, chassis, suspension, and packaging.
  • Develop and maintain the vehicle master digital mock-up (CATIA V5/V6 or Siemens NX).
  • Define architectural principles, interfaces, mounting concepts, volumes, and packaging strategies.
  • Lead structural design decisions, including material selection, manufacturability, weight optimization, and cost-performance trade-offs.
  • Ensure coherence between mobility systems, energy systems, mission payloads, crew compartments, and protection solutions.
  • Manage vehicle mass properties, weight budgets, and center-of-gravity targets.
  • Drive vehicle-level integration reviews and resolve cross-functional architectural conflicts.
  • Support key engineering domains including structural integrity, durability, crashworthiness, transportability, survivability, and maintainability.
  • Contribute to prototype build activities, vehicle troubleshooting, workshop investigations, and root-cause analysis.
  • Mentor engineering teams and act as the technical reference for vehicle architecture and integration topics.
  • Support industrialization activities and ensure design solutions are compatible with manufacturing and assembly constraints.

Competencies: Education, Experience & Soft Skills

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 15+ years of experience in vehicle architecture, body engineering, structure engineering, or complete vehicle integration.
  • Proven participation in at least one full vehicle development program, from concept phase through industrialization and production.
  • Strong experience in automotive, defence, off-road, special vehicles, heavy equipment, or mobility systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, or equivalent CAD environments.
  • Solid understanding of structural mechanics, vehicle packaging, manufacturing processes, and assembly methodologies.
  • Experience managing architecture trade-offs involving performance, mass, cost, manufacturability, safety, and integration.

Personal Qualities

  • Strong systems thinking and ability to work across engineering disciplines.
  • Pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements.
  • Hands-on attitude and willingness to engage directly with prototype and testing activities.
  • Excellent communication and technical leadership capabilities.
  • Fluent French and professional English.
